i saw the vhs version of this concert many years ago. it's been unavailable for a long time so i was overjoyed to discover this dvd was to be released. if you are a fan of Journey, or this type of music generally, you will absolutly love this dvd. it's one of the best concerts i've ever seen. the vocals of steve perry, combined with the guitar genius of neal schon and the keyboard brilliance of jonathan cain are a sight to behold. and with ross valory on bass and steve smith on drums, this was journey at their best!!!!
this dvd release has been produced by steve perry himself and it's a testament to the man that he is releasing this dvd together with a cd of the concert in the same package. he could have easily cashed in by releasing them separately but hasn't. does this man love the fans or wot!!!
this dvd will show us all how much we are missing steve perry. i read an interview with him recently where he confirmed that he will not be recording with journey again. in fact, he's not planning on doing any recording at all for some time, so this dvd will have to do for the time being.i know we wont be disappointed with it,but i'm sure we'll all be a little sad at what we are missing, and dead envoius of the lucky ones who were at this concert and saw journey at their best.

I was a big Journey fan back then and, for me, 'Escape' was their finest album. It was never off my turntable in the days of vinyl (remember then?). This is a good concert and Journey rock! The songs covered here go back to albums before 'Escape', but it all hangs together well. The picture and sound are excellent. The long hair, the tight jeans, the young kids in the audience trying to look cool...the guitar solos are worth the price of admission alone. Steve Perry's vocals are great too. Give yourself a treat!

Any Journey fan MUST buy this! The picture and sound quality are outstanding considering its 1981 and the cd is as good as well. This is great value for money and really takes you back in time to the great years of rock n roll.

Great tunes, great sound, great musicianship, great threads(!), unpretentious stage show. Makes you wish you'd been there in 1981 before these songs became classics of the genre. Next best thing.

oh yes i was.....i was at this show. listen you all if aor american orientated rock... for all you little muso's out there, is your thing then this is it for you...
i don't believe you can realy dislike journey at anytime but this show was i guess the best piece of theatre ever.
read the guys review above they are absolutley bang on...
the atmosphere in that statium on that night broke clouds apart and it was a special night to remember as everyone in that crowd walked out telling each other that steve perry sang to them...that included me..of course now i have grown up , tsssh, i know that he was probably singing to the fire exits, but i don't care...buy this, i promise you won't be disapointed ever, hey and guess what, even your kids will sit down and shut up while it's on, got to be worth the money just for that huh?..
oh...and the guys right , a free cd of the show as well, take it you'll never stop listening.
and finally for those who have never heard steve perry sing....oh my god

This will not take too long... Any Journey fans know this tour saw Journey at their very best, with their best ever classic band line-up. They reached hights never before achieved by Journey and never repeated since. Sadly, for various reasons Steve "the voice" perry left a few years later. There isnt a bad track on the DVD and with diffuclty i have to say the highlights for me are, "Who's crying now, Escape, and Stone in love complete with Mr Schons tremendous guitar solo". The DVD also contains what could be Mr Perrys's finest ever live performance - singing the awsome "Mother Father". Singers and bands dont really get much bettter than this. If this dvd had been recorded a couple of years later and included classics like "Still They ride" and "Seperate ways" it would have been complete.
