Product Description

Product Description

Highlights more baffling cases which Douglas, the former head of the FBI Elite Serial Crime Unit, was called in to consult. This sequel to 'Mindhunter' explores new examples of major crimes such as arson, rape, and assassination, and their criminals, from the Unabomber to the murderer of John Lennon. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

From the Back Cover

The world's top pioneer and expert on criminal profiling, author of the international bestseller, Mindhunter, delves further into the criminal mind in a range of chilling new cases - involving rape, arson, child molestation and murder - as well as profiling suspects from OJ Simpson to the Unabomber, and investigating the assassination of John Lennon and the tragedy at Waco, Texas.

The inspiration for Special Agent Jack Crawford in The Silence of the Lambs and a continually sought-after consultant on headline-making cases, Douglas reveals the fascinating circumstances of each crime in detail as he explores the larger issues, from crime prevention and rehabilitation to what violence is doing to society.

--This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

Absolutely brilliant 29 April 2003
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
This book provides an amazing insight into the career of the FBI's most prolific Criminal Profiler- John Douglas. Although the book can get bogged down with sentimentalities, rather than sticking to Criminal Profiling, the fact remains the Douglas is the best man in the job- something that makes the book all the more captivating to anyone interested in Criminology.

Not a book for the faint hearted, Douglas picks out high-profile crimes of serial killers, and describes to the reader how he is able to use the information at the crime scene to help police catch the perpetrator.

A must have for anyone seeking an introduction to the world of Serial Killers, but not really one for the reader who is already familiar with the main concepts and issues surrounding the modern phenomena.

Format:Hardcover
I grew up with a child molester under my own roof for years but was to frightened to talk about it. I escaped the situation by joining the US Marine Corps. Now I have children and after reading John's book, I had that long talk with my children about sexual predators. It was a subject that my Mother never talked to me about, and I pay for it everyday. My children will not feel the pain that I have and John's book gave me that extra push that I needed to tell my children how to protect themselves. He was right when he said that it is better to have your children scared and aware, than ignore and abused, or worse. Read it, for yourself and your children.

Worth Buying! 7 Aug 2007
Format:Mass Market Paperback
A great read with extremely useful tips for parents on protecting their kids. The author does sometimes go off at a tangent; into extreme detail away from the prime subject of the book, a fact not highlighted in the synopsis. It would be useful for the reader to have read 'Mindhunter'first for background.
