Product Description

Product Description

George Fox was the founder of the Society of Friends, and his journal, written during his incarceration, is the central document of Quakerism. This book, written in a style of simplicity and lucidity, describes Fox's religious conversion, his visions, and the persecution of the early Quakers. This is an edited and annotated edition of the journals, incorporating a wide range of recent discoveries about the early history of Quakerism, which has considerable bearing on the way Fox's book was posthumously asssembled.

5.0 out of 5 stars For a Bible loving Quaker, this book is the business., 18 May 2001
This review is from: The Journal (Penguin Classics) (Paperback)
repent repent repent! George Fox is calling people to repent but not in the Ian Paisley fire-and-brimstone way. But in the most loving way you can imagine. His faith in God's spirit passed down through Moses, Abraham, the old testament prophets through to Jesus, John and the disciples was, how to the americans say? Awesome. For any Quaker or Christian that needs to be reminded of the reality of God in our everyday life as a loving creator - no myths, no secrets - this is a must read.

5.0 out of 5 stars George Fox opened Britain to know Jesus as fact, 20 Mar 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: The Journal (Penguin Classics) (Paperback)
An anointed book that changed my entire understanding of British Christianity. Fox was clearly a man who dared to allow Jesus to rule in all circumstances. This precious book, although written as a journal, is a mighty instrument of sound teaching and real hope for mankind. A must read.
