4.0 out of 5 stars Good for new journallers 6 Mar 2010
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I am a keen art journaller and own several other books. This is a good introductory book for new journallers but if you already have some experience you may find it rather too basic. Having said that, the book is bright and inspiring and fun to look through and read. If you want to get an idea on how to get started with journalling, it is worth buying. If you already have other books and some experience, I would take a look inside first.

4.0 out of 5 stars eye candy 6 Jun 2010
By tracy
Format:Paperback
violette's personality really shines through in this book - she comes across as a vibrant, fun lady who i would very much enjoy hanging out with and getting creative alongside. the book is bright, funky and really does make you want to drop everything and go and spend a weekend just doodling and getting it all out on paper.

my only criticism would be that i could have done with more specific inspiration regarding style. i was looking for a book to help me add personal writing and embellishments to my scrapbook pages. i hoped for more fonts and borders to try out. instead, the message of this book is more of a general 'do what YOU feel like', with lots of words of encouragement for finding your own groove. which DID work out well for me, even though it wasn't what i set out looking for.

so all in all, i would recommend this, especially to anyone looking for something to inspire them to get off their bum and get creative!

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspiring 15 Feb 2010
By RubyRed
Format:Paperback
Being new to art journaling and experimenting with everything, I needed a few extra creative prompts, which this book has in abundance. The book also covers lettering which I found very useful. The pages are full of lovely, creative and colourful pictures.
I also bought another Journaling craft book at the same time which had a different style to it and was equally useful.

3.0 out of 5 stars A bit disappointing, but still enjoyable! 19 Jun 2010
Format:Paperback
Lovely book, but not what I expected though! I had hoped for ideas on setting out your page etc, and maybe different ways to write the date etc. This book seems to aim at people who can draw or doodle, or have good imaginations,,,,,,, I probably would not have purchased it if I had seen what was in it,,, sorry.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not that good! 25 May 2012
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book is OK, As a more experienced Art Journaler I found it a bit patronising!and very simplistic
Its colourful and pretty but thats really about it, There is no substance at all to it nothing to refer to at all.
I would say its aimed at very young teens. I wouldn't recommend it as a reference for art journalling at all instead try
Artists' Journal and Sketchbooks: Exploring and Creating Personal Pages by Lynn Perella, The Art Journal Workshop: Break Through, Explore, and Make it Your Own by Traci Bunkers and
for sheer inspiration you cannot beat 1,000 Artist Journal Pages: Personal Pages and Inspirations by Dawn DeVries Sokol
Sorry Violette but your book pretty as it is doesn't do it for me I didn't find the "Bliss" I was looking for

3.0 out of 5 stars journaling for early begginers 1 Sep 2011
By Sophie
Format:Paperback
For those starting journaling, young students and of the like i'd purchase this as it gets your basics covered, but for myself i prefer something more in depth and more adult. I'd probably give this as a present to a young artist or creator for some inspiration

very inspiring, very simple, fun, eccentric and brimming with ideas. It is more for the beginner, but if you are already creative and are looking for some inspiration then you wont be disappointed. I love it and i have a degree in fine art!
