When life deals Josie Rawlings a bitter blow, she realises she's going to need all the friends she can get...

Product Description

For Josie Rawlings, caring for her cantankerous old grandmother and running her vegetable stall in Leicester's market square is hard work. But then things get a whole lot worse when Josie's inheritance is stolen and her granddmother's death brings eviction from the only home she's ever known. Determined to rise above these bitter blows, Josie struggles to support herself, and, desperate for affection, stumbles into an ill-fated love affair. More About the Author

Lynda Page is the bestseller author of 28 novels, sales of over 1 million to date. She was born and raised in Leicester and now lives in a village in Leicestershire where she writes her novels on her kitchen table. Until the age of thirty seven, Lynda had no asperations to become a writer, in fact had never written anything remotely literary, let alone publishable, since leaving school at 15. Cohurst by her best friend to go to night school to study for a GCSE in English Literature, a short story she wrote was to develop into her first novel Annie which she completed in her lunch hours on a works word processor. Persuaded by a colleague to try and get it published she sent it to an agent who immediately recognised her talent for story telling, sent the manuscript to a publisher who 4 days later made an offer for the book and Lynda has been under contract to them ever since.

4.0 out of 5 stars a good story 24 Jan. 2005
By A Customer
i am a new reader of lynda page's books , after i brought at the toss of a sixpence , which i found a nice story but very hard to really get in to , unlike joan jonker who's books i can re -re read anytime .but i didnt let this put me off reading anymore of page's books .
i brought against the odds and found i was able to easily read that book and liked the story a lot , i then went on to buy 'josie' and was not dissapointed .
the story of josie and her struggle to believe in herself was really something that i could relate to.
i also liked that the love interest for josie loved her before she changed and lost her wieght .
good book.
