Product Description

From Amazon.com

The soundtrack for a film with no music? Yes, it's true. Josh's Blair Witch Mix takes the high concept of "music inspired by the film" to new extremes: this is the mix tape found in Josh's car on the fateful night the "documentary" was filmed. Whatever the case, Josh's is filled with the doom-and-gloom sounds of vintage goth and industrial tracks and the occasional "scared silly" movie sound bites. It's a strong compilation with classic tunes by Lydia Lunch, P.I.L., Bauhaus, the Creatures, Front Line Assembly, and others. The included enhanced CD video snippet contains footage not found in the actual film. Ironic: one thing that makes The Blair Witch Project so believable is the fact that it lacks the typical clichéd horror-movie sound effects. Luckily, this "soundtrack" is far from clichéd and every bit as creative as its movie counterpart. The only thing creepier would be if Josh had been listening to a tape of smooth jazz.... --Jason Verlinde

This is NOT the sound score of the film. Let's face it...if it was it would just have two pieces of music on it and alot of rustling in bushes! This CD however does have some great pieces of music on it. It's a compilation album, some old tracks from the 80's and a few from the 90's. What would you rather listen to? Mariah Carey? Or Haunted by Type O Negative? Is spooky and intense, I bought it and liked it. You could too! I mean it....I'm never wrong.

I like the idea behind the concept of this CD - that this is a compilation of songs found on an audio cassette found in Josh Leonard's car following the events of the Blair Witch Project film. Truth be told, I bought this CD for the PIL track THE ORDER OF DEATH, as I gave up all hope of finding the Hardware soundtrack that the song also features on and for some reason I just don't want to buy a PIL album, don't ask me why.

As soundtracks go, it's OK, especially if 80's goth or industrial music is your cup of tea. In fact it's probably too 'goth' for me, but I think that's where someone thought their target audience would be. My gripe is: if the events of the Blair Witch Project occur in 1994, why is Type O Negative's HAUNTED on here when it was released in 1996?
Now that is spooky!

Might be worth buying if you're a fan of the original film for the CD ROM content, which I don't think is on the DVD.

Quite a wierd and disjointed soundtrack, spooky but vibrant...Many different sounds on this, but most of the songs are very gothic or industrial-based. Impressively mixed together with eerie sounds(presumably taken from parts of the movie). If you have an open mind and like music that's involving, unique and sometimes disturbing then you will love this album.
