Product Description

Product Description

A stylish storage solution for the modern kitchen, this bread bin is made from 100% melamine, so it’s durable and easy to clean too. But the really clever bit is the Beech wood lid - specially designed to double as a breadboard. Simply remove, turn over and you’re ready to begin slicing. The melamine base is dishwasher safe but the wooden lid should be washed by hand and dried immediately.

Product Description

Probably the best looking red designer bread bin that money can buy, this is the Melamine and Beech Bread Bin by Joseph Joseph, and as with many of this London based design company’s products it’s more than just a pretty face. The Jose

on jan 19, i emailed the manufacturer, as follows...

"i'm extremely interested in your melamine bread bin. however, 2 of the 3 customer reviews on amazon mentioned the beech lid on theirs had warped.
i suspected they may have not cared for theirs properly...until i visited the conran shop on brompton road - their (red) display model also has a warped lid, and it has presumably never been near water.
so, i wonder - are you aware of this apparent design fault? can you offer any kind of assurance that if i buy one & follow your care instructions it won't warp on me?!"

...they've not even bothered to reply.
i shall update this review if i ever hear from them... meantime, avoid at all costs!

This is a nice idea, a good size, and the colour and finish of the melamine body is good. Unfortunately after only a little use the wooden lid started to warp slightly after careful rinsing or wiping with a damp cloth, and although still usable it is disappointing that such as expensive item is rather flawed. As with other Joseph Joseph items, stylish but rather over-priced.

I read the other reviews and chose to buy, therefore cannot complain when reviews turned out to be spot on. The product is fair quality but the lid does not fit snuggly and although fairly thick has already begun to warp in a dry warm kitchen. Problem is there is not alot of choice for alternatives bread bins. Buyer beware.

I ordered this a an xmas present, thought it looked funky, just the right size, great colour etc. I had read some reviews on this item and some were not good but thought i would be lucky! It arrived and there was a rattling in the box, once opened i found it was chipped and cracked at one end. I returned it and ordered a replacement. 2nd one arrived and same problem 3 large chunks at one end had broken off so had to return it and get a refund.
Packing not good enough, plastic bin not strong enough. I would not recommend this at all.

Very pleased with this item. Arrived very well packed and in record time. Adds a stylish splash of red to my new kitchen. Nicely holds 1 loaf and rolls etc. Not too big so doesn't take up to much work space area.

Really, really wanted this bread bin, when it arrived I was REALLY disappointed and returned it immediately. It is not big enough to take a loaf of bread ???? and The lid sits inside the bread bin, making it just look like a large square red bowl. Looks awful in situ - exchnaged and bought the Typhoon Capsule Bread Bin which is GORGEOUS!

I bought this because it is a cheerful looking bread bin. Fits neatly into the kitchen and perfect for us.
November, 2010. Bread bin smashed to pieces by falling spice jar - couldn't believe it was so fragile so no stars!
