Joseph McManners is not your average 12-year-old boy. His long blonde hair, funky skater clothes, and enthusiasm for Coldplay and Keane give the impression that he would fit in perfectly as the fifth member of McFly. However Joseph has been blessed with a pure, heavenly treble voice, which is debuted on his impressive new album In Dreams.
In Dreams is a collection of Joseph's favourite songs, which have inspired him throughout his childhood. Tracks include "Bright Eyes" from the legendary film animation Watership Down, "Walking in the Air" from The Snowman, John Rutter"s haunting "Pie Jesu", Howard Shore"s magical "In Dreams" from the epic Lord of the Rings trilogy, the ever popular "Psalm 23", Elton John"s "Circle of Life" from The Lion King (a duet with Amici Forever"s Jo Appleby) and "Where is Love" from the hit musical Oliver.

Sweet and innocent. That is the sound of Joseph McManners. There is something about his voice that says he is very young, but don't mistake this for a children's album, although I am sure they would enjoy this as much as the adults surely will. And anyone who enjoys quality light classical, almost folksy music, will love this album. His angelic voice carresses a song in a way that few accomplished singers three times his age do. Only one thing could have made this album better. That is if they had decided to include his "A Sally Garden". Oh, well. The songs that are there are excellent choices, and this album is very near perfect.

An earlier reviewer remarks that there are many boys with better voices that Joseph McManners. He may well be right if we're talking from a purely technical point of view. But Joseph has that certain 'something'...that indefinable quality that makes him special. In other words, he is an entertainer, a showman if you like. He has the ability to bring a song to life and to reach inside the listener and control their emotions. He has the potential to be a star of the future, long after his voice changes...a rare occurrence. 'In Dreams' containes a variety of styles from hymns to stage musicals to pop classics and each one is done to perfection. Don't worry about the technical qualities of his voice - which are still superb by anybody's standards - enjoy this album for what it is: a fine and varied selection of songs performed brilliantly by a young man who will be a household name for many years to come.

This disc is an absolute gem. Many recordings are played through maybe half-a-dozen times, the novelty palls, and they are consigned to the CD stack. This one just keeps getting better. Joseph's voice is unlike that of any treble I have heard to date: as fresh as water from a spring and shining with sparkling diction. Many lovely 'choirboy voices' have come off the ecclesiastical conveyor belt over the years; Joseph's is not one of them. To the natural endowment of a beautiful voice he brings intelligent musical technique and, clearly, a love for the works he is singing. The result is something unique: a strange mixture of innocence and maturity.
The mixing of Joseph with a tremolo soprano voice in 'Circle of Love' seemed slightly incongruous and struck an odd note, but this is a minor niggle. More urgent is the recognition that nature's time-bomb ticks away under the treble voice, and we look forward - please - to further recordings of this remarkable young talent while the going's good.

Beautiful
I've listened to a few songs, namely Where is Love, Pie Jesu, Bright Eyes and In dreams which are on his site, and they are amazing, his voice is so gorgeous!
