Product Description

Product Description

Chop 2 Pot Plus is Joseph Joseph's folding chopping board. Laid flat, it provides a durable, knife-friendly cutting surface for all types of food preparation. But when the handle is squeezed, the sides of the board fold up, forming a convenient chute down which chopped food or waste can be neatly guided. This version of the design still employs the same proven ‘living-hinge’ technology to achieve its transformation, but also features a comfortable, soft-grip handle and non-slip feet. Available in two sizes. Dishwasher safe.

I wanted one of these for ages, and finally bought myself one a couple of months back. I though they seemed like a fantasic idea but after the first use I must admit I wasn't impressed, but I thought I'd give it a while and a fair trial before I wrote the review. My main gripe with this item is it's stability. Because it doesn't sit completely flat, it moves about on my kitchen worktops a lot when I'm trying to cut things. I've tried a few tips out to increase stability (damp cloth under, damp paper towel under etc) but it still slips around. This is fine when you're cutting most things but when you're cutting foods that require a fair bit of pressure, like sweet potato for instance, then it's quite worrying wondering if it's going to slip whilst you're cutting with said pressure as you could easiy do yourself an injury! I've had a fair few chopping boards and have never had this issue before so I was quite dissapointed to find that this one did slip so much. In fairness, these boards are absolutely great if you're mainly chopping things that require no pressure but if you want to chop sweet potato, butternut squash, turnip or pumpkin then steer clear.

Ive had my folding chopping board for a couple of years now and it is still going strong. The folding sides mean no more burning my fingers trying to extract bits from the hob before they catch light and allows you to pour easily into a pan. The surface is hardwearing and retains its colour. Most importantly its thin and stacks away easily in the cupboard. The only down point is that it is best to store it under something, if you use it a lot it can try and stay bent if you're not careful.

I once met one of the 2 brothers Joseph who are behind all the Joseph Joseph designs and he lived round the corner from me in SW London. The only relevance of me adding this is because it shows they are like me and understand the need and desire for practical, good value, attractive kitchenware that has the added benefit of not taking up too much space. All JJ products are always conscious of space issues which makes me return to them again and again.

I had been looking at Chop 2 Pot boards for quite a while and thought they were a good idea but a lot of money for a chopping board. I eventually bought one, only to find it quite dangerous, as each time you release pressure on the board, it folds. One day I came perilously close to removing the end of my finger, and the board was consigned to the bin.

another great product from Joseph Joseph. Very clever design as you can chop away, then lift up your board squeezing the sides and pour your ingredients into your pan. no more spilling stuff all over the place :)

It's amazing how much you can over engineer something as simple as a chopping board. There is one great advantage to it - you can pour your chopped food into a pan without spillage. There are however two disadvantages. Firstly it's a bit of a nuisance trying to make the cutting area lie flat and once you've managed this the handle sticks into your arm, it then has the tendency to jump back to it's pouring curved form. Secondly it will clearly break a lot quicker than a flat chopping board because at the folding points the plastic is thin. I've had one of these in the past and the handle broke off after 2 years. Thats not long compared to my 1 inch think wooden chopping board which will out live me.

This is a great idea. No more fishing out vegetables from under the hob. But unfortunately, the groves where it folds over, weakened very quickly and it fell apart within a year of buying it. Very dissappointing
