Product Description

Product Description

This brilliant rolling pin takes the guesswork out of preparing pizza, pie bases, lasagne sheets and filo pastry. It comes with three sets of removable disks that raise the rolling surface by different amounts, to create the required pastry thickness – either 2 mm, 6 mm or 10 mm. This ingenious device also ensures that the pastry or dough is rolled to an even thickness throughout and, via measurements etched into the wooden surface, to the exact size required. Beech rolling pin – wash by hand and dry naturally. Discs and locking nut – dishwasher safe.

Box Contains

  • 1 x Joseph Rolling Pin with 3 different sizes of pastry thickness disks - 2 mm, 6 mm and 10 mm

I bought this rolling pin mainly so my 5yo daughter could make cookies with me, but also because I myself don't roll doughs out evenly.

As soon as the rolling pin came I made a batch of cookies, and they were perfect. And then my daughter rolled out the dough for 5 cookie-octopuses. Also perfect. That was great. For this, I love this rolling pin.

Not great: the end of that same day I realized that one end was just turning around (it's supposed to turn in and stop), and then found that the plastic part into which the end of the pin rolls into just came out; it wasn't glued in properly. Ok, it's a minor thing, but on the very first day? Really annoying. So one star off.

The 2nd star is off because I think it needs at least one more set of rollers for another dough thickness. As of now, I only foresee using the 6mm rollers (1/4"; though the rolled out dough looked more like 4mm to me), as the small ones (nominally 2mm, but really 1/16" which is 1.6mm)produce dough too thin, and the 10mm (3/8") dough too thick for most things I make.

I make novelty birthday cakes and I got the rolling pin for rolling out fondant icing, but because they have stamped the rolling pin with their name 'Joseph Joseph' it leaves an impression on the icing, which is no good. Though the disc idea was great for getting an even thickness.

great rolling pin, the only problem is the 'joseph joseph' print is indented and leaves a bit of a mark on the pastry etc but other than that it really is very good.

This rolling pin is great if all that you want to roll out is something which has a width smaller than the Rolling Pin. However when rolling out icing to cover a cake, i found that the width of the icing needed to be larger than the pin width and this meant that the thickness measures on the end of the pin ended up cutting into the icing. This is great for pastry and cookies etc, but not so great when it comes to rolling out large areas of icing. Of course you can always take the thickness adjusters off and use it as a normal rolling pin, but then it kind of defeats the object of buying this special rolling pin in the first place.

Don't bother, please don't bother. I was so excited to get this, I know sad, but I love my baking and gadgets! But on first use, one side kept unravelling, as a design flaw is that both screw ends are the same, meaning that if you roll it unscrews one side . But the worst of it was that the second time I used it, the end fell out completely, the glue had not held, and it became unusable. So it was returned for a refund.

Soo disappointed. Definately not worth the money ...or the aggro

Nice product in theory but I had to return it because the holes in the ends of the rolling pin were badly off centre to the centre of the roller. This means that the depth of the pastry was very uneven. Poor quality control.
Also the number of spacers is insufficient.

The rolling pin does the job.

If I had to say anything, I think it should have one more level between the highest and lowest that already exist.

When I first saw this Rolling Pin it was a case of "i saw this and thought of you".I then read the reviews and little doubts crept in regarding:- Ends not screwing in properly,Bits missing,Name coming out on surface etc,but despite all this I went ahead and purchased it for my good friend Emma, who has informed me it is the best thing since sliced bread as it now enables her to make the perfect cookies and pastry toppings. So if you want to make someones day [Including yourself] go for it.
