1.0 out of 5 stars Was this written as school homework? 30 May 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This "book" is very poorly written. I could get over the awful translation into English if the content was good, but honestly it reads as though it was written by a kid as a piece of school homework. There's no real structure to the content; it feels like one giant paragraph, written in less time than it takes to read the book, containing everything the author has concluded about Joomla after a friend told them about it.

Sorry if this sounds harsh. To try and be fair, there were a few little nuggets of interest, but only really in making me aware of a couple of features I'd missed and no actual detail about how to use them.

Multiple times the author suggests visiting their website for a more detailed description of a particular feature - so what's the point of the book then? Have I just paid for a list of features and corresponding website links?

In my opinion this book offers very little of use to someone trying to learn Joomla, even if you're a complete beginner don't bother with this. If it was free it wouldn't be worth the cost!

1.0 out of 5 stars Fraud 1 Mar 2013
By Rhman1660 - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is just a fraud. Nothing other than what is free to read on the Joomla site. It is sad that Amazon allows for this to be purchased online. If nothing else, I hope that this keeps you from making the $2.99 mistake that I made.

1.0 out of 5 stars Totally lacking in detail; poorly translated 31 Mar 2013
By jeff1660 - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This book skips more information than it gives. Wording is at times odd or difficult to follow - one paragraph ends on a page but doesn't finish on the next. I ordered it because it was the first 3.0 book out of the gate, but I'm going to return it and get something else.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, but not great 21 Feb 2013
By Clint Collins - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
While this book does deliver on it's promises, it is not the most comprehensive resource you can find on the topic. The authors will walk you through some elementary aspects of the Joomla cms, but won't offer you much help if you really want to dig deeper. Joomla! 3 - In 10 Easy Steps will get you started, but doesn't deliver much more than a very basic start.

The book suffers - albeit only slightly - from some grammatical and editorial problems. The occasional missing word and the wrong conjugation of verbs lead me to believe that there are some translation issues. All of this could have been avoided with a little closer editing prior to publication.

All of that said, it wasn't a bad starter resource for the price (I purchased the kindle version).
