As a complete novice on Joomla and web site building I held off from tinkering around with the product until I received this book. I must admit I was looking for a step by step guide to building a web site based on templates and being able to understand Joomla terminology. This book does not provide any real world guidance that I could fathom. There is no starting point for say changing the logo on the front page or indication on which order things should be done.
The book itself does not have an index, the contents are hidden somewhere in the first chapter and frequently graphics titles are separated from the graphics. Too much space is dedicated to example web pages and too little on how to achieve them. Perhaps, if you are an experienced web developer and just want a quick intro into the Joomla world and can correlate this to previous tools, then this might be the book for you but for me it's going on the shelf.

The print quality is poor. Diagrams and Screen Images are hardly legible. The corresponding PDF file that is available on the internet has diagrams that are clearer and better. Buying this print version is waste of money.
The PDF file on the Joomla Website is very good - but this printed version is bad due to very poor quality of printing.

This book in compiled from all sort of (free internet) sources and therefore messy and unsuited as a sort of manual. Simply buy something else.

The title is just what is said is just for begginer's only.
Simple language well written. Some errors on page indexing.
The indexing on page 13 it doesn't corresponds to the correct number of
chapters in the book. Chapters are going up to number 24 and not to 28 as described in Page 14.
Overall a good reference for revising quickly Joomla 2.5.

Fantastc, clear advice - a must buy - and a must read after you buy! Don't put this on your shelf (virtual or real) until you have read it. If you are serious about becoming a proficient beginner (is there such a thing? yes - I am one now!) in Joomla! (and who wouldn't be?)- then you seriously must read this book.
