DVD Description

From the often bizarre pen of One Foot in the Grave writer David Renwick comes the entire first four series of this very popular BBC drama series. Working from his home in a converted windmill, Jonathan Creek (Alan Davies) is a magician with a natural ability for solving puzzles. He soon puts this ability to another use--solving murders. Together with his journalist sidekick played by Caroline Quentin, and later by Julia Sawalha, Jonathan is called upon to solve a series of what appear to be unsolveable crimes.

Series 1:
'The Wrestler's Tomb', 'Jack In The Box', 'The Reconstituted Corpse', 'No Trace of Tracey' and 'The House Of Monkeys'

Series 2:
'Danse Macabre', 'Time Waits For Norman', 'The Scented Room', 'The Problems At Gallows Gate' and 'Mother Redcap'

Series 3:
'The Curious Tale of Mr Spearfish', 'The Eyes of Tiresias', 'The Omega Man', 'Ghost's Forge', 'Miracle in Crooked Lane', 'The Three Gamblers', 'Satan's Chimney'.

Series 4:
'The Coonskin Cap', 'Angel Hair', 'The Tailor's Dummy', 'The Seer of the Sands', 'The Chequered Box', 'Gorgons Wood', 'Black Canary'

Special Features

  • The documentary 'Long Hair and Duffel Coat'
  • Commentary by director Marcus Mortimer and writer David Renwick
  • Alan Davies' and Caroline Quentin's screen tests
  • Deleted scenes

Recieved today, Opened and checked discs all in order and not blank like some other reviews have mentioned, good start. Just to clarify this boxset sent to me BBCDVD3327 only contains the early two Christmas specials - Black Canary and Satans Chimney as per Amazons dvd review, some other reviews state they have recieved the lastet two
Christmas specials as well, so well done if you get them, it seems that is a bonus. In this set you do not get The Grinning Man or The Judas Tree. I personally will buy them separately but it would have been nice for them all t have been in the box but one can't really grumble for the price.

Great series and will look forward to watching them all by which time i will have got the lastest two Christmas specials to watch, only 4 stars due to not being uptodate with having the other two in, no reflection on quality of series.

Jonathan Creek 27 July 2011
By Colin
Format:DVD
This box set contains the first four series of Jonathan Creek and Christmas specials featuring Alan Davies (also best known as a panelist on QI) in this highly successful murder mystery drama series. Jonathan, magic expert and scruffy amateur sleuth extraordinaire. teams up with investigative crime writer Maddy Magellan (Caroline Quentin) in Series 1-3, and theatrical agent-turned-TV presenter Carla Borrega (Julia Sawlha) in Series 4, to solve a string of seemingly impossible cases. The characters are wonderful, and they evolve greatly over time.

All the episodes from Series 1 and 2: 'The Wrestler's Tomb', 'Jack In The Box', 'The Reconstituted Corpse', 'No Trace of Tracey' and 'The House Of Monkeys' and from Series 2 are: 'Danse Macabre', 'Time Waits For Norman', 'The Scented Room', 'The Problems At Gallows Gate' and 'Mother Redcap'.

All the episodes from Series 3 and 4: 'The Curious Tale of Mr Spearfish', 'The Eyes of Tiresias', 'The Omega Man', 'Ghost's Forge', 'Miracle in Crooked Lane', 'The Three Gamblers', 'The Coonskin Cap', 'Angel Hair', 'The Tailor's Dummy', 'The Seer of the Sands', 'The Chequered Box', 'Gorgons Wood', 'Black Canary', 'Satan's Chimney'.

Fantastic crime drama, with a great twist!
