Not perfect, but... 16 Oct 2011
Platform for Display:PLAYSTATION 3
Fun:
Its very close. I, as so have many others, have been waiting for a good rugby game on the new generation of consoles for ages. And then, in the space of a few months, 2 games come out at the same time. I have only played the demo to the world cup game, but that sucked and judging by the reviews, the game sucked too. So when i heard of Jonah Lomu rugby challenge i was slightly concerned when buying it, but i'm glad i did!

As with all games, there are a few problems. Here is what i find could do with improving;

Passing - This is my main gripe with the game. I often find it difficult to judge the pass and drop balls happen al the time. If you hold R1/L1 down its a further pass, but sometimes it just goes to nowhere or the player knocks it on.

Tackling (sort of) - This is probably just me but there has been a few times when the opposition have just ran straight past and my defence has been week, this has happened to me a few times online.

Now for the pro's:

Tutoriols - There is an extensive tutoriol which shows you how to do pretty much everything ranging from simple running to the full scrums and lineouts. This makes the game much more approachable and easy for begginers.

Scrums and lineouts - Easy to do, involves timing challenges which are simple to master and fun to do

Running with the ball - It's easy (not too easy of course) to get a satisfying side step or dummy pass and score the try.

Licensing - Yes, some of the international teams aren't real, but to be honest it doesn't really matter as there is licsend australia and new zealand. Also, there is australian teams, orange top 14 and the aviva premiership (newcastle falcons!)

Game modes - There is tornuments, quick matches and an extensive (15 season i thing) career mode

Online - I've only really dabbled a bit but what i have is great. It's really satisfying to win a game against another player! Although i got a bit excited halfway threw and pulled my playstation out... There is a little lag on a few games but its fine

Overall i'd reccomend to all rugby an sport fans. There is room for improvement, but all together i'd rate it a very good 9/10!

Fun:
After reading some of the reviews on here while I waited for the game to arrive, I started to fear the worst. And when the game arrived and I first tried the game out, I did at first think that the game was perhaps not that great. However, after giving myself a few goes to learn the controls, I must say that the game is very enjoyable and a good simulation of rugby. I agree with many that the game is initially hard to control, passing and tackling particularly takes some practice. However, once the many controls become second nature the game comes into it's own. Many people here have complained that passing to the outside half is problematic, but there is a specific button for an outside half pass which I've had no problems with (this isn't obvious unless you read the manual). The forward play is also better than I feared, with pick up and goes possible and mauls included as well as rucks.

The game is not perfect by any means and the controls do take a while to master but the wealth of competitions is also very impressive. As a rugby fan I'm more than happy with this game, and it appears to be a level up compared to Rugby World Cup (of which admitedly I only played the demo).

WOW what a Game! 26 Oct 2011

Fun:
Well how can i start. Graphics awesome, Game play Fluent and easy to pick up. The possibilities are endless when you are choosing a team, there's over 60! Creating a player is fun as well and rewarding when you see him playing next to the greats of the game. Plus when you are waiting for the game to start instead of normal loading screens you get to pass it around in the pitch with four players, practice kicking and general play. As you can tell i'm exited about this game and if you are to buy it i would pay double the money to get this game!
