5.0 out of 5 stars Nina Antonia Does Johnny Proud, 1 April 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Johnny Thunders: In Cold Blood (Paperback)
While "In Cold Blood" is sometimes harrowing in its portrayal of Johnny Thunders' life and his decline from drug addiction--Antonia does a great job of presenting Johnny as a fully-fleshed human being who was a lot more than a showbiz dope addict. This book is an essential document for anyone who's a fan of Johnny's work and appreciates rock'n'roll as it used to be played before corporate greed all but crushed it.

5.0 out of 5 stars HE COULDVE BEEN A CONTENDER, 24 Jan 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Johnny Thunders: In Cold Blood (Paperback)
Nina Anotonia's book is an update of her 1987 book of the same title, except at the end of this the hero die's . Johnny Thunder's story is a sad tale of a man who knew rock n roll, he could be bit keith richard's ,elvis in 56, bob dylan and dion, but at the end of the day he was Johnny Thunder's a one off he himself launched a thousand wannabe's and lookalike's and nina antonia write,s a good account of him, she write's like a fan and a friend and let's other have their say no matter if it's positive to Johnny or negative. The only fault if it is a fault is that some information is a little thin in place's the Heartbreaker's in england in the late 70;s only come from their ex manager yet they played with the pistols and the clash ,and headline their own tour here. The new chapter's are the saddest as it show's Thunder's in decline big time the drug's are finally getting to much, and he is playing for loose change to get by. this book is a must for any one who has loved rock music for the last thirty year's because this man had played his part. Book's ,cd's and the new film about him are all your gonna be left with because as he once said 'You cant put your arm's around a memory'.

If you are expecting a free 10-track audio CD with book you will be disappointed. For some reason it is no longer included.
