By P. Das
Format:Paperback
I found the book full of fascinating insights into the life and times in Manchester and Manchester United. It will appeal to readers who are fans of the legendary team as well as those who are interested in social history. It is written in an engagingly personal style and makes the book a compelling read.

I read this at the end of last year and couldn't put it down. Anyone with an interest in football and historical sporting events should definitely get themselves a copy!

This is a fabulous book which will appeal not only to football fans, especially "Reds", but also to anyone who grew up, or has an interest in life, in 1950's England. The author's amusing anecdotes about teachers and his comments on the state of education at the time are spot on and his observations of childhood are most perceptive and capture the innocence of those days. I should know because I also attended Davyhulme County Primary and Junior School at the same time as Neil Berry and spent much of my childhood on Davyhulme Park too. I remember playing football for the school with Neil, "a year early", when we were both in Junior Year 3 - he was on the left wing and I played in that coveted outside right slot alongside another "babe", Chris Buchnall, who lived in the same road as Neil...and Johnny Berry came to watch us!!
Thanks for bringing back such happy personal memories and also for retelling the tragedy of Munich, Neil. What a smashing testimony to your dad's life!

Incidentally, I notice another reviewer by the name of P Das. In 1964,I had an English teacher at grammar school called Paul Das who lived in Davyhulme. Surely it couldn't be or could it?
