Adventure based on the book by Terry Pratchett. Johnny Maxwell (George MacKay) stumbles upon a time machine when he helps an old woman, but little does he know that his journeys back to 1941 cause a chain of events which alter history. Johnny and his friends must go back in time to reverse the changes and save his own existence.

I was very disappointed in this. They turned the plot around so that it doesn't make sense, the story loses most of the charm of the book and it's terribly miscast, particularly Zoe Wannamaker. Really, don't bother, read the book, which is delightful.

i love this!....ok so i am a very big Terry Pratchett fan, i read all his books, though i have to confess that i only found out about 'Johnny and the bomb' being televised and made into a DVD 2 years ago....so naturally i set out to find a copy (very hard to do as it turns out - not many copies left in circulation), found one and i have to say....i was not disapointed! Lovely piece of entertainment, and the cast are just spot on!! well worth a watch!

This is a very good interpretation of the Pratchett novel (for those who complain about the differences, watch the interview with Terry). All of the actors work quite well, but special mention should be given to Johnny's grandfather (Frank Finlay) and Kirsty (Jazmine Franks) who was simply brilliant. Johnny himself (George MacKay) was excellent. Well worth the purchase!

For some strange reason, this DVD has never been released over here in Canada. Come on guys - there's lots of Terry Pratchett fans over here too.
