Book Description

A brand new book of mouthwatering recipes to cook at home from Great British Bake Off winner John Whaite.

About the Author

John Whaite is the winner of BBC 2's The Great British Bake Off, 2012. He has been a keen baker and cook since he was a tiny tot, when he would spend many hours in the kitchen with his mum. From banking to baking, after winning the Bake Off John was able to give up his mundane day job as a city commercial banker to focus on the one thing he is truly obsessed with: food. In 2013 he fulfilled one of his lifelong dreams and attend Le Cordon Bleu in London to study the nine-month patisserie diploma.

I was a massive fan of Johns first book which was such a refreshingly different style of cookbook with tons of recipes which were exciting and extremely rewarding, I was waiting for this book with baited breath and have to say it is even better if that is possible! Completely chock full of new recipes everyone even more temping than the last, I feel that John has advanced so much from his first book and you can tell he is utterly dedicated to the art of baking and dedicated to engaging the home cook in recipes you would never dream of! I implore you to buy this book, my shelf breaking cook book addiction has hundreds of baking books but none which get me so exited or so inspired (I never use the word inspired, I am usually such a recipe drone, you tell me what goes with what and I do it) but when in the mind of John anything is possible! Buy it, I promise you wont regret it :)

Really thrilled with this new book. Good original ideas. The battenberg cake looks amazing. As do the ravens nests. Will be baking all weekend.

I love the Kitchen Tips at the start of the book which have given me some new ideas. I especially like the tip about greasing old baking tins where the non-stick is non too good. I have earmarked several recipes to try which sound delicious. I think some recipe books can rehash things seen before but this book has genuine new ideas that have surprised me. I'm looking forward to trying the giant butterscotch Chelsea bun with my family as it looks an easy enough recipe to follow (especially with a Kitchen Aid) but to give an impressive result. There is a nice mix of easier and harder recipes so that some are more challenging eg the mango and coconut mousse cake which would be great for an unusual dinner party pudding. However, other recipes are easy enough for my children to have a go at making them and enjoying the results. The pictures are to drool over but I would have liked at least one per recipe. Love the tips on each recipe eg don't put the fudge to set in the fridge as they remove the element of doubt.

Be the envy of every Jerry and Jane on the block with this excellent collection of delicious recipes. By mastering these beautiful designs you will be inundated with invitations from friends and suiters alike... to... cook round their house. I have recieved no less than three marriage proposals, one adoption request and a filipino nurses phone number from ONE Sherbet Lemon Cake, no joke. This book taught me love again. It is a must have for any cook! Seriously! Can't recomend it enough.
