The last studio album is 'Driving to Damascus'. This is the expanded American version of the album and quite arguably stands as the band's best work. If you are going to buy their considerable studio work of the 90s, I recommend this over the other versions of 'Driving to Damascus'. Completists, however, will probably want to have all three major editions: the Track records limited edition with two Raphaels tracks, the Track records official UK release, PLUS THIS ONE. All of the added songs are quite clearly of the same period of writing and recording as the ones on the original 'Driving to Damascus', and a case could be made they are better than some of the ones that made the first cut in place of them. I think Stuart Adamson said something like they were considering 25 songs for the album. 'John Waynes' Dream', the album, gets you closer to that larger group of songs. Tony Butler, the bassist, did give this album a bit of re-touching in the mix, and if you listen carefully enough you can hear the difference on some of the songs. I even like the album cover of this one better than the 'Driving to Damascus' version.
