No words... 23 May 2009
Well what can I say apart from absolutely jaw-dropping from start to finish.

Being on a blu-ray, the soundtrack is pristine, and the video quality is bright, vibrant and pure, which is as expected. It feels like you are in the concert.
I first got into John Mayer when I had to learn 'Gravity' for a University Performance (Musician). After listening to this song, I discovered his other music and back-catalogue, and his music really grabs you and doesn't let go; you become absolutely hooked.
Mayer provides evidence of his flawless technicality as a guitarist, as well as a very talented vocalist (not forgetting him being an extraordinary song writer). The concert starts with him performing five songs acoustically, and these are some of my favourite parts of the concert. Such effortless talent!
He then goes on with the second set, as the John Mayer Trio (featuring Steve Jordan on drums and backing vocals, and Pino Palladino on bass guitar), and finishes with the third set as the John Mayer Band.
Myself being a drummer means that I get lost and caught up in the metronomic groove of Jordan and the band drummer, J.J. Johnson. These guys are just superb, and really do a great job.

As well as the concert itself, the blu-ray comes with a few cheeky little extras. There is a backstage performance of 'Belief' available through download via bd-live, a picture in picture experience of all three separate musicians of the Trio for 'Who Did You Think I Was', and another feature called slow dancing on mulholland drive, although I haven't got around to taking a look at this yet.

All in all, if you want to see and hear musicianship how it should be from an artist of today's modern music scene, then this really is for you, and I very much recommend listening to John Mayer's back-catalogue... I think you will be pleasantly surprised, there will undoubtedly be a song that particularly reaches out to you.

Hope this helps :)

If you are a guitarist (like myself) and you have heard some of his tracks. You must get this. This is one of the best live performances I have ever seen. This man is supremely talented. visually and sonically the best you will encounter on blu-ray. If you want to see some of the finest blues, rock and acoustic of our time, This is the man.

I was first introduced to John Mayer when I saw him live at the Crossroads gig in 2004 on VH1. Since then I have listened to Continuum and some of his earlier stuff, and borrowed the CD of Where The Light Is from a mate. I loved it. John Mayer live is like an animal being freed from captivity. I find with his albums it sounds like he's being held back by snooty Music Execs who only wish to produce mainstream easy listening songs, that sell but are a safe option. Every single song Mayer plays live sounds better than its album counterpart. The bluray quality is awesome, the picture is great and the sound is even better. I would suggest this DVD to anyone who has never heard of John Mayer before - its like 3 gigs for the price of 1 and really gives you a feel of what he's about, and not what his management want him to be about. The DVD extras are excellent and its interesting to see what Mayer and the band do immediately before and after they have played infront of 7000 people. This DVD proves that Mayer is one of the greatest guitarists of the modern day.

Buy the CD. By the DVD. Get it on bluray. Invite your mates round. Be in awe of this guys musical talents. I will guarantee with all honesty that you WILL NOT regret buying this DVD.

P.S Ignore the fact he carries a puppy with him everywhere, nobodys perfect.

As a casual fan of John Mayer's work, I appreciate his catchy and thoughtful lyrics, laid back demeanour and of course his wizardry with the guitar. Read more

Closeup
Get an amazing closeup look of John Mayers guitar play. It not any concert, it is there for the movie, and it is long.

Brilliant
The guy is a musical genius. You wil go a long way to find a better guitarist. Excellent voice with the odd undertone of Stevie Ray Vaughn in there at times. Read more
