Reviews

Released to commemorate the 30th anniversary of John Lennon s death later this year. Features previously unseen footage and interviews by all the Lennon family. Unseen archive footage of John Lennon John Lennon was the most iconic Beatle who became an international peace campaigner and creative artist before his shocking death on December 8th, 1980. In this incredible documentary which features in-depth contributions from Yoko Ono, Cynthia Lennon, Julian Lennon, and many previously unseen interviews with John himself, we learn of his rise to fame with the Beatles, his divorce from Cynthia, meeting with Yoko, the split-up of the Beatles, and his decision to become a solo artist and campaigner for world peace. John Lennon: Love is All You Need is a fitting documentary to one of the most influential musicians of the twentieth century, with some truly unique interviews and previously unseen footage from those who really knew John Lennon. Extras include: Memorial to John, Interview with Director Tony Palmer and Here, There and Everywhere trailer.

This was a very interesting watch, primarily due to the narrative drawing from and informing the archive footage rather than talking heads occasionally cutting to random footage which tends to be the norm for most of the mass-produced documentaries flooding the DVD market these days. I don't know what the other reviewers are on about, there's obviously footage that has been seen before which is in very nice quality but there's tons that hasn't including the Cynthia and Julian Lennon interviews that were recorded shortly after John's untimely death.

I mark it down a star though for no actual John Lennon music.

Well worth purchasing if you're a fan as I am.

Another video mash-up of previously seen stuff hung together on a fairly accurate time-line.
For people seeking the real John Lennon, you won't find him here.
The only places you will are in Cynthia Lennon's 'John', and Julia Baird's 'Imagine This'.
