Sorry - much as I think this guy was a great bass player - the DVD sucks. John Entwistle is not a great teacher and doesn't really offer any helpful explanations. The other problem is that slowing his stuff down and talking it through exposes how much of his sound was really about distortion and volume. I definitely came away less impressed than I was before. This is also a really old recording that was originally done on VHS and that shows as the quality is really poor.

Beyond all of that John's bass sounds just horrible throughout.

If you are considering buying this there are some clips of it on youtube that you might want to check out before you part with your money.

This dvd covers not so much how to play the bass but more covers the playing techniques that John Entwistle used. Examples include his tapping method, pulling method, plucking, picking and hammer ons and pull offs. Whilst this DVD doesn't delve into technical creative too much, it is useful to show Entwistle's playing technique and if the examples he plays on-screen are played too fast, there is an option to slow them down on the menu as well as to follow them in the booklet that comes with the dvd.
