Unique,
By Tony "Tony" (Belfast) - See all my reviews
This review is from: John Denver - A Song's Best Friend [DVD] (DVD)
This DVD contains a wealth of information. To hear John Denver talking about his songs , the events that inspired him , the frustrations he had and the joy he gained from developing the songs was such a pleasure. There are five or so other people that talk about John and his music including long terms band members , his manager and music producer. They reveal gems of information that only these people with the intimate knowledge they had through their relationship with Jonn can reveal.None more so than his ex-wife Annie Denver. When you listen to her and watch her speak with such feeling you begin to understand what the song was all about. The songs are played (with great visuals) as the they are discussed and then you are left for a short while to listen to and watch the song on its own. The development of John Denver both musically and in appearance from the geeky 1974 look to the allmost macho look in 1994 is , in itself quite revealing. I have listened to the DVD over and over again and every time I learn something new. My only regret is that there is not more. If you are interested in John Denver , his music or song lyrics in general - get this DVD

A song's worst DVD,
This review is from: John Denver - A Song's Best Friend [DVD] (DVD)
I really think they should have negative stars on here! On Amazon.com this got high ratings, and some ninety odd people agreed with 5 stars or whatever. Well let's just say that if this was the best they could do for John Denver then, well, I really feel sorry for his family. Come on Sony BMG or whatever company made this and get your damn finger out of your **** and make this again. And make sure it's in HD this time as well, and also remastered. More pictures, more stand-alone videos, and for the love of ***** start it over. Utter Rubbish. I paid £3.97 for mine, but personally I think I should have been paid money to watch this crap, and THEN I would be also complaining. Disappointing does not even come close. Now I really like John Denver. Now I would pay money to go on TV and kick the producers of this poor rubbish right up the ****. Minus 5 stars. Put your money towards the Wildlife Concert or An evening with John Denver on CD. No damn wonder it's not for sale anymore from Amazon. Libya is being bombed currently, but I seriously think Sony BMG need a few to get their act together. This is bloody awful! More pictures convering all his life and albums please. Full videos of his best performances, with preamble etc. Stills and/or audio where video is not available. Put your £3.97 towards a good JD album on CD. If I'd wanted a drinks coaster I would have ordered... A DRINKS COASTER! Minus 5 stars...minus five stars.... minus five stars!! Where is the minus five stars?!!
