Product Description

John Cooper Clark is unique; a performance poet whose elongated pipe-cleaner physique is as distinctive as his machine gun-patter delivery, he straddles music, stand-up and literature like no one else. Daily Mail Live from London s South Bank the legend that is John Cooper Clarke brings to you a blistering performance of his own unique mix of hilarious comedy and insightful poetry. In a dynamite sell-out turn filmed at the Queen Elizabeth II Hall at London s South Bank, JCC performs a stack of poems old and new including, Beasley Street, Hire Car, Attack Of The 50ft Woman, Things Are Gonna Get Worse and many more. Along with his own brand of comedy John delivers a hilarious night to remember.

Review

A seminal influence on punk, a ferociously funny performance poet. --The Guardian

Clarke is the godfather of British performance poetry, a star of alternative comedy before there was even a circuit on which to ply his trade. --The Telegraph

I got sent a free copy of this, along with Evidently John Cooper Clarke [DVD] in preparation for interviewing JCC for a magazine. The performance is from 2012, runs for an hour and 25 mins and is extremely well shot and edited. There's more talking than actual poetry, but don't let that put you off as even when he spends several minutes talking about a font it's still brilliantly funny. There are also a couple of nice extras - a performance of "36 Hours" accompanied by Frank Sidebottom, which was filmed at The Leadmill in Sheffield in 2010, and an amusing soundcheck along with some backstage footage in which JJC manages to get stuck in a toilet.

This is a quality product which I don't think will disappoint fans.

i love J c c ...HE`S A SCREAM ...usually ... this catches the great man on a bad night .. not many poems/stories ..just a drunken ramble (or substance use) if you`re looking for all the old favourites .. you won`t find them here !! - sad.

Pretty boring really and this dvd should have been called live at Boredom Road lol as it's really kinda' slightly boring if u r a fan of the man for many decades like me(30+ yrs) he needs to do more poetry instead of hanging out and dragging the min's by as he does a lot these days....he should get back to what he is great at...reciting poems.
