My own experience with wine has always been hit and miss. I wanted to lower the misses and enjoy more hits.
John Cleese is definitely entertaining in his presentation and wastes little time in cutting through the elitist image and getting down to the nuts and bolts of the matter; working out how to describe the various flavours and basic wine types. It has also helped me to conclude that it is best to go to a dedicated wine shop and talk to someone who knows their wine, rather than spending an age in a supermarket, blankly looking at shelves of the stuff and trying to talk with shelf stacking staff who often know little about the actual products.
It seems that for people like me that aren't all that knowledgeable, there is definitely a way forward to getting more enjoyment from wine.
An eye opener came at one point, when a group of people blind testing wine couldn't tell whether they were drinking white or red in John's test.
An honest, entertaining help in learning how to explore the world of wine. Doesn't tell you what to drink, but assists in learning how to describe what you like about wine and communicating that to others.
