About the Author
John Brookes has often been described as the world’s most influential garden designer both because of gardens he has created for clients and his books on garden design have been multi-million sellers ever since his ground-breaking classic ‘Room Outside’ was published in 1969. He is Chairman of the Society of Garden Designers, has made several appearances on BBC’s Gardener’s World and runs the Clock House School of Garden Design in the UK in addition to his world-renowned lecturing and workshop tours. John Brookes lives in Denmans, Southern England.

My "bible" - the best book on garden design I have bought so far, as recommended by the tutor on my College garden design course. Well explained theory, beautiful photographs, and one you would not feel ashamed to leave lying around on your coffee table!

Brilliant at the planning stage for those looking to clarify their ideas. Comprehensive, well laid out book, easy to use. Lots of really effective colourful photographs, illustrating options and possibilities. A must have, whatever the size of your project, but especially useful for those looking to maximise value from small feature areas and courtyards.

A very useful guide
For anyone looking to re-model an existing garden, or starting from scratch on a new plot, then this is a great reference book covering all apsects of a project end to end.
