Product Description

Product Description

This is a practical work book that goes from the basics of simple surveying, through the author's celebrated use of a design grid, to detailed styling and planting design. Topics covered also include the tools needed for designing a garden, construction details, how to design a larger garden, creating pools and other water features, and useful tips on how to research the original garden plan, as well as the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions people ask when designing part or all of their garden.

About the Author

John Brookes, MBE, has long been one of the world's most influential garden designers. He has created 1,200 garden designs for clients around the world, and is equally well-known for his teaching, lecturing, books, and magazine articles. His sought-after design courses - run from his own garden at Denmans in Sussex, as well as at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew and in the South of France - have helped to produce a generation of new garden designers. His books, from the seminal Room Outside (1969) to Garden Masterclass (2002) have sold hundreds of thousands of copies worldwide, and also include John Brookes Garden Design, The New Garden, The Small Garden, and Garden Planning.

This book is nicely presented and a good coffee tale book but as I actually want to learn to be a designer I wouldn't have been impressed if I had paid more that the £5 that I did at Tesco, as there are many other books that do the job far more effectively.
Lots of nice pictures of his work and how he has approached jobs but that is about it.
