Bought this for my daughter at Christmas as she had been asking for it for ages. The idea is great but unfortunately does not work well in practice. The actual process of making the coins, cutting the foil etc is fiddly and I would imagine most younger children would find it impossible to do without help. There are only 4 moulds and the melting pot only holds enough chocolate to make two coins, which means (with melting & freezer chilling time) it takes about an hour total to make 4 coins. The press did not seem to work particularly well when imprinting the patterns as there doesn't seem to be enough pressure. As mentioned in other review there is no chocolate included so make sure you have some chocolate buttons or chips on hand. There are some sheets of gold foil included but won't go very far (especially if your little one is cutting them alone as you have to be careful in order to get more than 4 discs from each sheet). I guess silver foil would work just as well although we haven't tried yet. In my opinion would be better if there were more than 4 moulds and a larger melting pot included so you could make bigger batches. Some of the parts (particularly the pressing plate) stick already when used so I'm not convinced that it will last very long. Time will tell. All that said my daughter did enjoy making the coins but it's a lot of messing about for 4 coins an hour. I personally feel you'd be better buying a chocolate fountain (which my son received for a Christmas gift) - lots of chocolate, lots of fun and a lot easier to organise! Would I buy it again - no.
