The single most valuable book I have read on software development and project management. Some of the later articles seemed a little out of sequence but its a great read with plenty of humour to illustrate points as well.

Joel has that common sense design persona and when you read his work you will say yeaaaahh that's right... .I blimin well thought so myself :) If your looking for a book to entertain and inform and have a sense of humor coupled with a yearning to fill your head with common sense to inform your design area, whatever it may be, this book is a good place to visit. But don't take my word for it, in the spirit of good design you can read most of the content on Joel's Blog. If you like it, the books for you.

Joel has a marvelous way of explaining himself. Becoming more and more popular from his public blog coverage (which I recommend you read).

This book is a great insight into the many obstacles that a software developer faces. I've read many of joels books ranging productivity to business, this one covers the broadest range of software topics.
Whether you are thinking of going into the software industry or are a veteran coder reading this book will benefit you, more importantly you will enjoy it.
Wrote in a very light writing style (fitting for such a sometimes heavy subject) joel delivers relavent information and methodologies that can be applied in real life.
Definately worth the steep apress price.
