Format:VHS Tape
Simply put the best feel good film of all time. My favorite film. Better than the Entire Lord of the rings, and I believe even Casablanca. Like all films some people will hate it, others like it, and still others adore it. I am one of these last set of others.
Joe is plucked from a meanlingless life, into an adventure whose final chapter must mean the end of his life. He has one month to live like he has never lived. And he does.
Who else would ever have the excuse and need to purchase luggage like that!
I believe this film is really for a select group of people who want to live the key line "My father says almost the whole world's asleep. Everybody you know, everybody you see, everybody you talk to. He says only a few people are awake. And they live in a state of constant, total amazement."
Its for people who don't need any sort of drug to feel high. For people who just need an occasional reminder on what life's priorities really are.

This film is so beautiful.
How many times in this film does Meg Ryan say 'I have no response to that'?
In Dune, Duke Leto says to shepherded Paul Atriedes 'the sleeper must awaken'. In 'Blue Velvet' Jeffrey says 'there are certain opportunities in life for gaining experience, and in order to do so certain risks must be taken'
This film is about the same thing - but is even more affecting because it is incredibly sensitive and funny. The trouble of life casts a terribly foreboding shadow across the film. Don't be put off by the low budget effects and the stereotyped duo of Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. This is Meg Ryan's best ever performance, and she is so incredibly beautiful.
The script defines this film: it is purposeful and teasing. Perhaps this is the greatest film of all time.
