This DVD is a 2007 tribute concert for the Clash's Joe Strummer whose influence on rock music is incalculable. Featured acts include Love & Rockets, David J., Zander Schloss & The Wilderness Years, Hellride (featuring Mike Watt and Jane's Addiction's Stephen Perkins), La Plebe and more. A fantastic and poignant evening for all involved. Set up by family and friends in the wake of Joe Strummer's death in 2002, Strummerville seeks to reflect Joe's unique contribution to the music world by offering support, resources and performance opportunities to artists who would not normally have access to them.

I was pleasantly suprised by this ...
I must say that Bauhaus/Love and Rockets never gave me the impression that Joe/Clash were of great influence on their bands as they seemed to come froma more glam angle...but..well they do a very good job of SISOSIG....
Zander Schloss makes several appearances with a dazzling array of guitars...big ones small ones ..
Magnificent version of Trash City...and a very tidy Gangsterville ...alarmingly ...Zander alsmost sounds like Joe at some points ..
The high point I think are the fantastic versions of Revolution Rock/ Washington Bullets and Rudie Can't Fail
by La Plebe ..Full on Brass and all...taking the pace up and down in Great Style...done with passion ...which is what Joe was all about I think.
Hellride with Mike Watt play some sound versions of early clash songs (hell I don't want to completely spoil your fun)
Some interesting interpretations..and Chris Salawicz plays host
If you are a (Real) fan....get it..I don't think you'll be disappointed
