So Percy starts out as a foreman, and henceforth he and Jock live through many exciting adventures involving wild animals and slave drivers.

unfortunately this is not the original south african verson from 1986 with the johnny clegg soundtrack and starring johnathan rands - check out gumtree for the original.

My kids range from 4 to 8 and loved it. My six year old changed his teddy from bobo to Jock! I enjoyed seeing the rugged Eastern Transvaal and KwaZulu Natal country side which made me home sick. The DVD stopped short of the books ending where Jock inevitably dies. Like many films, the 90 minutes did not do full justice to the book and the authenticity of some parts were lost to make it more pc for the times. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed it, recognising the coloquialism of the country, era, and the fact that it is a true story!Jock of the Bushveld ( Jock: A True Tale of Friendship ) [DVD]

My wife lived fo 12 years in South Africa and always spoke very highly of Jock of the Bushvelt, my 3 children (all Adults now) think it a wonderful uplifting story, in keeping with Greyfriers Bobby and are clamouring for it to show to their spouses & children (I told them to buy there own)
I purchased this through Amazon from WMD Services, and although it said it would take over a week to get it arrived within 4 days,

great movie
had been looking for this DVD for ages and glad I found it. The book was great and the movie does it justice.

Confusion
I`m not sure what the other reviewers are on about. I bought this dvd recently when on holiday in South Africa and this is the 1986 version with some music from Johnny Clegg. Read more

jock of the bushveld
I was a little disappointed with this dvd which I had bought for my 6 year old grandaughter. The colour was very dark and smudgy and the story wasn't very well told. Read more

nostalgic - took my daughters to see it on the big screen - in South Africa - wonderful movie - buy lots of tissues.
