First of all I don't believe for a second the person who says that they completed this in 25 minutes. You can easily defeat the first space object in 25 minutes, and if you always do the few minigames you end up most skilled at then subsequent levels are made easier, but we are on about the tenth object and have probably invested four or five hours in this over the course of a few months.
It is a simple premise based around a ludicrous story and yes there are some annoying animations, but I'm pretty sure the intention IS to look like a dodgy Japanese cartoon. Some of the mini games are a lot of fun, most last between 30 seconds and 2 minutes depending on how well you're doing (you can be kicked out sooner if you're not up to scratch and end up with no money from that day's work) while some of them are just a little bit tedious, others too hard to ever get decent pay, and you soon learn to avoid the ones you don't like.
What basically happens *spoiler alert* is that you discover that the planet is in danger, and you can only prevent that danger using objects from the TV shopping channel. You can only buy these special objects using points racked up by buying more mundane items, such as uniforms, helper items, and 'memorial' items. Once you have enough points you can buy something from the points channel which will either increase your available time before impact, do some damage to the space object, both, or if you're very unlucky, neither.
To earn money to spend on the TV shopping channel you need to work jobs. Most days you have a choice of 9 jobs to choose from (if you have bought enough uniforms - it's these that determine which jobs you can apply for) though some days there are special restrictions or bonuses (you got up late so there's only one left, or they're in dire need and will pay double if you do well in a particular job). You choose whether to use a helper item or not, you do the job, you get your pay cheque, you level up in the game (slowly) and unlock higher paying variants.
It's not a game you would play through to completion in one go, and as I said I would contend that it is impossible to get to the point at which my current game is saved in less than probably an hour to 90 mins, even if you only play the games you're good at, skip all the animations (many of them you can't skip which is a bit of a shame) and don't bother browsing anything on the shopping channel other than what you absolutely need.
I'm not bothered whether I ever 'finish' it though. For me this is a game I'll take an hour here or there and we'll take turns at having a go at the different jobs. When seen as a short term time filler, it's good fun for a while and at under a tenner, has to be worth a punt in anyone's money. Don't expect to get lost in a deep storyline, or carried away with the amazing graphics, as it has neither. Do expect to have a few laughs and return to it every now and again when you have half an hour to kill.
