A huge meteor is plummeting towards earth and the only way to save the planet from destruction is to earn enough money to purchase the anti-meteor gadgets from a TV shopping channel! that must be finished to earn the money to save the word! However, players must performbetter than the other workers in order to succeed!

Each of the 50 mini games are in fact jobs players must undertake successfully in order to earn money. These jobs range from the simple to the ridiculous and all make use of the Wii Remote and Nunchuk in ways players would never have thought possible.

As a red carpet interviewer for example, the player runs around the celebrity laden carpet waiting for them to give interviews. If you get their first and bag the big star, you earn more money! Managing a BBQ grill players must twist the skewers of meat using the Wii Remote to prevent them from burning and as farmer you must harvest carrots as quickly as possible and also milk a cow! Each job requires skill and concentration to complete and will test all gamers, regardless of their skills!

With three levels of difficulty and a multiplayer mode that allows two people to go head to head on any of the jobs that are available in a straight heads-up duel, there is plenty to keep everyone entertained and amused.

Job based Minigames 17 Mar 2009
Fun:
It's true the Wii is well known for it's mini game based games. That's what Job Island-Hard working people is in it's simplest form. The game challenges you to work hard at 55 different jobs to earn cash to save the earth from various threads in the sky. (There are 10 in total-some are really funny and Japanese in humour)

Each job starts at a novice level and you earn experience for playing the jobs to rank up (which earns you more cash) There are 3 ranks to each Job Novice, Pro and Expert. You can unlock a 4th rank called Master if you complete a Master exam in each job-normally performing very highly/earning a large wage.

The art style of the game is colourful and bold/the story telling I enjoyed as well.

The game does have a few issues with some of the controls in a couple of the jobs but no too much to spoil your enjoyment of the game.

There is also a memorial hall to fill with items you puchase as well and a collection book to record visitors to your hall as well.

Fun:
First of all I don't believe for a second the person who says that they completed this in 25 minutes. You can easily defeat the first space object in 25 minutes, and if you always do the few minigames you end up most skilled at then subsequent levels are made easier, but we are on about the tenth object and have probably invested four or five hours in this over the course of a few months.

It is a simple premise based around a ludicrous story and yes there are some annoying animations, but I'm pretty sure the intention IS to look like a dodgy Japanese cartoon. Some of the mini games are a lot of fun, most last between 30 seconds and 2 minutes depending on how well you're doing (you can be kicked out sooner if you're not up to scratch and end up with no money from that day's work) while some of them are just a little bit tedious, others too hard to ever get decent pay, and you soon learn to avoid the ones you don't like.

What basically happens *spoiler alert* is that you discover that the planet is in danger, and you can only prevent that danger using objects from the TV shopping channel. You can only buy these special objects using points racked up by buying more mundane items, such as uniforms, helper items, and 'memorial' items. Once you have enough points you can buy something from the points channel which will either increase your available time before impact, do some damage to the space object, both, or if you're very unlucky, neither.

To earn money to spend on the TV shopping channel you need to work jobs. Most days you have a choice of 9 jobs to choose from (if you have bought enough uniforms - it's these that determine which jobs you can apply for) though some days there are special restrictions or bonuses (you got up late so there's only one left, or they're in dire need and will pay double if you do well in a particular job). You choose whether to use a helper item or not, you do the job, you get your pay cheque, you level up in the game (slowly) and unlock higher paying variants.

It's not a game you would play through to completion in one go, and as I said I would contend that it is impossible to get to the point at which my current game is saved in less than probably an hour to 90 mins, even if you only play the games you're good at, skip all the animations (many of them you can't skip which is a bit of a shame) and don't bother browsing anything on the shopping channel other than what you absolutely need.

I'm not bothered whether I ever 'finish' it though. For me this is a game I'll take an hour here or there and we'll take turns at having a go at the different jobs. When seen as a short term time filler, it's good fun for a while and at under a tenner, has to be worth a punt in anyone's money. Don't expect to get lost in a deep storyline, or carried away with the amazing graphics, as it has neither. Do expect to have a few laughs and return to it every now and again when you have half an hour to kill.

Fun:
Job Island is wacky but awesome mini-game compilation. There are 50 mini-games in total and it is enjoyable for the whole family to enjoy. Most of the mini-games are a lot of fun and really funny. A few are tediously annoying but that it a minor flaw you can overlook. The game's main plot is humorous; you have to stop a meteorite by earning money to buy the special weapons in order to destroy it. Despite the game's flaws, the game is a laugh and great for family parties. I would definitely recommend this game.
