This 1991 twenty track compilation by Alan Dell is timeless. I cannot tell you why I did not buy it when it was first released. Now I have a copy it joins several other Alan Dell produced CDs that are my favourites. Alan knew instinctively what songs to include and with a songstress the calibre of Jo Stafford you could be spoilt for choice. Tracks 1-11 are mono recordings the sound reproduction of which is excellent. My instant favourite is the lesser known by enchanting "There's No You". Moving onto tracks 12-20 which are stereo recordings there a clutch of Jo Stafford essentials. Featured are The Pied Pipers; Nat King Cole (piano) & The Starlighters. Orchestra: Paul Weston. The liner note includes contributions from both Paul Weston and Jo all wrapped up by Alan Dell. With a running time of just under an hour this is for me the ultimate single CD to showcase the many facets that were Jo Stafford. Great value...buy it.
