If you think that Rock and Roll started with Bill Haley or Elvis, think again. This CD contains an unbeatable selection of late forties and early fifties Rhythm and Blues classics by mainly black American groups. Why didn't anyone ever tell me about this music before? In the two years since I bought Jiving Jamboree I've hardly stopped playing it, and I've gone on to buy CDs by many of the artists featured here. These are the forgotten roots of Rock and Roll, songs that still sound as fresh and original as the day they were recorded. Throw away all those tired compilations of fifties "classics", buy this, and get those feet tapping!

Even better then freakin' spectacular

As the other reviewer said, it's freakin' spectacualr, but it's even better then that, it's the best rockin' swingin' blues cd compilation out there, the whole series(there's 3) is worth getting hold of before it goes out of print. These UK imports are essential for people who like to dance or just like early rock'n'roll, jump blues, rockabilly and swing, when they all were related to one another. Great stuff from the 40's-60's!

EVERY track on this is perfect for swing dancing weather you are a lindy hopper, jitterbugger, shag or balaboa dancer, jiver, stroller, or whatever, it's all here. This is jump blues, swing, R&B, honking saxes, walin' vocals, all upbeat and 110% PURE Energy. This is the cd you need at your next sock hop or Lindy party!!! Freakin' awesome CD, essential. everyone from Louis Jordan to Joe "All Night Long" Houston is on thsi thing from late 40's to early 60's!!! So get ready to jump, jive, wail, swing, bop, all you high steppin' daddies and Dizzy Miss Lizzies!!!

A good mix of rock-n-rollin' Boppin' Blues, Boogie Woogie, early dance music. All the disc in this set by ACE are very good, with good sound quality. If you're looking for hard core rock-a-billy these CDs are probably not for you. But, then again we all need to expand our musical horizons some, they are worth the money and lots of fun to listen to.
