Product Description

Drawing on the soundest of sources - the Qur'an and the narrations of the Prophet Muhammad, May Allah bless him and grant him peace. The Egyptian scholar Mustafa Ashour has compiled a much-needed book that avoids the pitfalls of incredulity and superstition and presents a balanced clear-cut description of the jinn, their properties and domain. This book is indispensable to all those who seek a sound Islam, of which belief in the Unseen is an integral part. And, not least, it provides clear guidance on protecting oneself from any dangers that might be incurred from the realm of the Unseen through wrong action or malicious intent.

This book, with it's striking black and red cover has gained a place on many a Muslim's bookshop over the last ten years or so. Regarding the cover, when I spoke to the designer's son, he noted that it was his favourite due to it's simplicity, and so it is, I find with the book.

From the outset the authour set's out his work in an organised fashion, listing Qur'anic quotes, Hadith (statments of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him) and various other narrations in logicla order. After narratating various hair raising stories, he draws the book to a beautiful conlusion,i.e. that to safeguard one'self from the evils present in the unseen, one must be firmly rooted in sacred knowledge and wisdom.

I used this book for research of my novel but found that the approach and explanations were engrossing. A fascinating scholarly presentation of the existence of the djinn and why this is not a farfetched idea for Muslims. Very informative.
