Firstly, the title of this CD and the cover art are a bit misleading: this isn't really a compilation of Christmas songs for children, it's a compilation of Christmas songs for the family.
As such the contents is a mix of classics led by the bouncy Jingle Bells, a favorite to which my ten month old never fails to bop, but also includes other slower classics.
The contents is definitely on the Christian side, but I don't see that as a problem given that Christmas is a Christian religious holiday. That said, if you like your Christmas more in the 'Jive Bunny' secular mold this CD might be a bit on the traditional side for you.
The quality of the recordings are excellent, with real instruments and rich vocals, though again they are in the more traditional mode than the cover art may suggest.
I received this CD through the Vine program but definitely think it's worth paying for. I'm looking forward to playing it in the car on the way up from London to my parents in the North!

This is a CD of traditional Christmas carols, with simple arrangements. Carols include "We wish you a Merry Christmas", "God rest ye Merry Gentlemen" and "Good King Wenceslas". I have to say that my seven year old son really enjoyed this, but my four year old daughter was not as drawn to it. Although the cover is aimed at very young children, this is perfectly acceptable for adults and maybe better for slightly older children. It does have a much better quality than most CD's like this, lacking the 'tinny' sound of many such albums. Overall, a very pleasant compilation.

This collection of Christmas songs and carols marketed as aimed at children doesn't really deliver on child friendliness once you get past the cartoonish styling of the box. I wouldn't recommend this for children. The selection of songs is definitely on the serious rather than the populist side, and the voices and arrangements aren't particularly upbeat. That said, it's a reasonably-produced budget Christmas CD that works quite nicely as seasonal background music.

For the very young
The very young would probably listen to this. As an adult, I find it grating. Not sure carols need to be produced in this 'playschool' guise, as carols seem to be loved by all ages... Read more

Bland and soulless
We found it rather soulless and bland, more like a piped muzak production for a fast food joint. Look elsewhere if you want something more "hand-made", organic and meaningful.
