This book is fantastic. I have made 5 recipes so far and they have all been great: -
- Golden Crunch Cake - delicious
- New York Cheesecake - this definitely had the wow factor and tasted just like the Cheesecake Factory! I only had a 9" tin so used this instead and cooked it for about half an hour longer and it turned out amazing, it's absolutely huge though, you can get 15 slices out of it but it does keep (in the fridge of course) for a few days.
- Blondies - I can't describe how amazing these tasted, when they came out of the oven my Mum and me both looked at each other and said "WOW"!
- Brownies - when my boyfriend said to me one day "so and so's brownies were amazing I must say they were better than yours", I was on a mission and thanks to Jim I found a recipe that made my boyfriend eat his words!
- Chocolate Chip Bars - if you love cookies you will love these although they didn't keep well but I'm sure that won't be a problem.
The recipes are easy to follow. There are however, no pictures in the book which is a blessing as I would be baking something new every day!
Jim gives you a little bit of history behind each recipe which is a nice touch and a few baking tips at the beginning which is a good idea to read before you begin your baking extravaganza.
A few tips to decipher the America ingredients listed in this book: -
All-purpose flour - Plain flour
Cake flour - you can't seem to get this over here but he gives you an alternative.
Confectioner's sugar - icing sugar
Corn starch - corn flour
Baking Soda - Bicarbonate of soda
Oh and you will need to buy yourself a set of measuring cups to use this book.
Happy baking people :)
