Product Description

John Fowles

A deliciously evoked return to worlds, and a Europe, now almost vanished; it will ravish connoisseurs of the lost. --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

Product Description

Trying to bridge the gap between the two styles of composition of the autobiography and the novel, this book is based on the author's unusual childhood in Germany, Italy, Provence and England. Her other books include "A Legacy", "Aldous Huxley" and "The Faces of Justice".

Highly Recommended 26 July 2009
I read this nearly 10 years ago and have re-read it twice since. I'm always a little disappointed with the ending but that's probably because I want to hear so much more. I believe it's largely autobiographical and Ms Bedford must have been one heck of a character. Beautifully written too.
