This book should be in the library of everyone who desires to understand more about Judaism. A must read. Clear, concise, well written, encyclopaedic in scope, covers everything you need to know and then some.

Now into my third of Joseph Telushkin's books. He really possesses a true gift of understanding and the ability to pass on that message both succinctly and with the style of a truly skilled orator.
Information contained in this book is neither too long or too short, but captures beautifully the essence of these historical characters, times and events.
Highly recommended!

I am not Jewish, but have a fascination with their culture, history and religion. This book is a virtual encyclopedia of information by topic which you can either read from cover-to-cover, or use as reference material. I HIGHLY recommend it.
