Four decades of triumphs and tragedies cover the life of the American beauty Sarah Thompson and the English Royal Family into which she marries. On the eve of World War II young Sarah accompanies her parents on a grand tour of Europe to recover from a disastrous marriage. With no thoughts of remarrying, she is swept of her feet by William, Duke of Whitfield. They soon marry, begin a family and restore an old chateau in France for their home. When William is summoned back to England for military duty, Sarah and her infant son are left alone to face the German invasion. Following the war, Sarah and William - hoping to use their financial prosperity to ease the crippling economic situation experienced by their fellow countrymen - buy jewellery from those in need of cash. This collection becomes the basis for a jewellery business that will span Europe through three decades. When William dies, Sarah must fight to keep her now grown children from destroying each other and the Whitfield business, and She must find it in her heart to trust and love again.

This movie is one of my favourites, its romantic,dramatic, and entertaining. Its story line is fabulous and keeps moving. Anyone wanting to watch a romantic drama and has a fairytale imagination would absolutely love this movie.

Loved this film and would love to buy it on DVD but can not get it because you can only get it in Region 1 and I live in Region 2.
