The first solo album of Marcella Detroit after
Shakespears Sister is a good work although
the sisters were better in their combination.
"Jewel" is an album that points out the great
voice of Marcella and is to be defined as a
popsong- collection. My favourite song is
"I believe" because of its great refrain and
the nice lyrics for peace. "Jewel" has a
hypnotizing guitar- solo in the end and songs
like "Art of melancholy", "I'm no angel",
"You don't tell me everything" and "Out of my
mind" are well- made and romantic. The short
song "Prima Donna" shows the opera- like voice
of Marcella which becomes very high here. The
duet "Ain't nothing like the real thing" is
performed together with Elton John. All my
respect goes to this talented lady.

Marcella Detroit; one half of the great `Shakespears Sister' - one of the few great bands to come out of the 90s, and who had tremendous success during that decade, and whom I loved, here presents a great collection of songs on her own. There are certainly some `gems' among these, and the album will grow and grow upon successive listens! This album has certainly got me looking at this lady's back catalogue!

Marcy's my favourite, & she knows it - I was fortunate enough to be able to tell this delightfully charming, talented lady.

Where do I start? I love everything about this album, from the motown influence shown in JAMES BROWN to the almost Bolero-like 'pounding' of ART OF MELANCHOLY.

Marcella's voice always delivers & her level of skill & talent never disappoints.
