I'm not going to go into too much detail about this book, as the other reviewer, L Sims, has done this so well. I will say that if I didn't recognise a few LG pretty boring staples (i.e. the obligatory little doggie/a virgin female who drives the male mad with lust...(?)/rich male of the world who is used to dating supermodels but who's never had better sex than with the female lead, and thefore can't remember what condoms are for/pregnancy etc. etc.) of recent years, I wouldn't have thought this was a LG book - it was pretty, pretty awful.
Does any of the following sound familiar? Cliche'd/unbelievable/full of been-there-seen-that/ leads with no connection suddenly allegedly falling into lust/the prince and westernised playboy who is so overwhelmed by the female lead that his tongue runs away with him, calling her a goddess/an attraction that felt totally forced/repetitive sex scenes/yet another female lead who, because of her stepfather lusting after her growing young body, made her never fancy a guy til now, and made her come out with 'I'm not into sex' (but she just happens to be on the pill to regulate her cycle)...?
On top, there are boobs that go from 'straining against a t-shirt', 'plump breasts' and 'soft, rounded curves' to being pert and small. Oh, and LG has discovered Alliteration in this book - 'ripe, rosy lips' and 'supersonic speed' and 'soft, sultry mouth' were all in the same paragraph, no less, which was just a little bit overkill. And, 'kissed her, hard, hungrily', 'powerful physique' and how can I forget 'tight, tingly nipples' or 'straining shaft' or the 'hard heat of him'?? LOL, CRINGE!! And sorry, I'm irritated enough to be petty now: the female lead is meant to be blonde and fair-skinned, but the model on the cover looks like JLo's uglier, non-Caucasian sister. Hmm. Oh, and BTW, I'm of Asian descent and am pretty sure that Raja is a Hindu/Asian name, not an Arabic one, which Raja Al-Someiri who wears a thaub is meant to be...though, admittedly Raja or Rajah can be used to denote a prince, which Raja was...but like I say, I am being petty now.
I suppose after 50 years of M&B there's bound to be repeat tales, but come on, at least, try to make the tale believable, not contrived and 'yeah, right'. And, please, while you're at it, try to make the cover model pretty enough to attract your reader, and at least a bit like the female lead is meant to be.
You may have guessed that I didn't like this tale, and you wouldn't be wrong. On top, I resent paying the forty pence reservation fee that I wasted on this.
