Book Description

1 July 2011
Hiking the Jesus Trail is a once in a lifetime experience for every Christian. The Jesus Trail passes through Nazareth, Cana, the Mount of Beatitudes, the Sea of Galilee and Capernaum. You can be baptized in the Jordan River, climb Mount Tabor and ascend Mount Precipice. The journey ends in Jerusalem. You will visit the Church of the Visitation, the Room of the Last Supper, Gethsemane, the Tomb of Mary, the Via Dolorosa and the Holy Sepulchre. Bethlehem is only ten kilometres from the trail. Pilgrims frequently describe their hike in the Holy Land as a life-altering experience. Some find it difficult to express the bliss they feel during this spiritual journey. After their hike of the trail, a group of pilgrims from Italy wrote: "When we completed the hike of the Camino de Santiago de Compostela (Way of St. James) we were excited. But it was nothing compared to what we felt when we ended our hike of the Land of Jesus at the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. We were elated, crying with joy and blessing the Lord for our journey". "The Jesus Trail" guide contains all the information you need to walk the Trail connecting New Testament sites in the Galilee and Jerusalem. This guide includes the only topographical maps of the region 1:45,000 in English. It provides: maps of Jerusalem 1:15,000; road maps 1:250,000; hike description with elevation charts of 14 days in the Galilee Holy Basin and Jerusalem; historical information about dozens of relevant Biblical sites; practical information about travel, accommodations, gear, short dictionary, and more; and, link to a website with free GPS tracks covered in the guide and updated trail conditions. Jacob is the author of the original guide to the Israel National Trail.

In general Guide is ok, stylized on the Camino de Santiago one, but hi-resulution map is a sci-fi as they as rather poor so be prepared to buy a map on your own.

I was very disappointed with the book. I wanted something that would give maps and show the trail that Jesus took
and I preferred it in English. The book was useless as it was witten in hebrew. I was not happy with my purchase

This book briefly summaries the most important places to visit, including maps and specific points of interest. I did not read it yet, but I was already visited these places and it looks like all matched!

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent and useful guide 2 Aug 2013

This is an excellent guidebook. The text is in English and the maps are in English (I'm not sure what the other reviewer was seeing) and written in Saar's precise and direct style. I used his guide to the Israel National Trail and found it to be an invaluable resource. This guide to the Jesus Trail, part of which I covered in my hike of the INT, is easy to follow and helps the hiker move along with confidence. Saar checks and double-checks the routes he describes, and solicits feedback from other hikers. Several times on the INT I would hike with the guidebook in hand as I navigated confusing terrain. With this guide to the Jesus Trail I plan to do the same. And for a long time I have wanted a guide to Jerusalem that would take me through the great and glorious confusion of my favorite city. Now I have this, and I thank Saar for his work in putting this guidebook together.
