Everything this band does is class (even when they're singing about Jesus with half a tongue in their cheek). If you like Alt-Country I challenge you to find a better song than 'Poor Little Thing' - I played it five times consecutively this morning and still left my house feeling the need to hear it again and again and again (and I don't have any major mental problems). The last tune has a male choir on it as well - superb!

I love this album. I was fairly sceptical of it at first, and it took a few listens before it hit home (as is often the case with the best music), but once it did, it became one of my favourite albums.

It's a slightly odd concept album, in that all the songs mention Jesus in some way - many just mention him in passing, but some have his name in the title, and the three part "Walking Back to Jesus" is clearly all about him. Really, it feels like a normal album rather than a concept album, and the concept is more of a conceit than anything else.

But that doesn't alter the beautiful nature of the songs. There's not a bad song on here, and some of them are simply stunning. The style is pretty eclectic, and gets called all kinds of things but I guess it's folky-country-ish in the main.

If you want to buy just one album by the Broken Family Band, I'd make it this one, although Cold Water Songs is almost as good.

Seven songs of pure genius, all different but bound together by the Jesus theme.

The BFB demonstrate their thoughtfulness, humour, versatility, musicianship and just about everything else with these songs.

'Walking Back... Pt 2' is one of the greatest moments in music - ever
