Book Description

12 Jan 2000
A revolutionary new audio program that will guide business leaders into the next century! He gave them a vision of something larger than themselves. The world is changing at almost breakneck speed, and the leaders who succeed will be those who can marshal their most powerful resources in the most effective ways. With principles embedded in spirituality, ethics and strength, acclaimed motivator Laurie Beth Jones brings us "Jesus, CEO" -- a bold yet sensitive inspirational guide for leadership success. After years in business, Jones was struck by the notion that Jesus' leadership approach ran counter to most of today's management styles. In "Jesus, CEO, " she explains that by harnessing the three strengths behind Jesus' leadership techniques (the strengths of self-mastery, action, and relationships), we can become the empowered leaders that the next millenium will require. Following the example of Jesus -- a "CEO" who took a disorganizied "staff" of twelve and built a thriving "enterprise" -- "Jesus, CEO" details a simple, profound, fresh, and often humor-filled approach to motivating and managing others.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just the book I was looking for. 23 Feb 1999
By A Customer
I think everyone should have this book regardless of his or her background.
I became a born again Christian last year and have read the Bible 3 times as well as over 16 books and videos on the subject. I now study the Bible for hours everyday because I just get so excited getting to know God. I have never been this excited about anything in my life. I prayed for God to point me in the right direction because I ask him to use me in anyway he wanted so I could become one of his best students. I knew He wanted me to lead others to Him, but I was not sure as to how He was going use me in doing so. I learned to listen and wait and that He will answer when He knows I'm ready. I also learned that the Bible is the only real truth we can count on.
I'm also a business owner and have been for over 16 years in network marketing. I deal with hundreds of people teaching them how to improve their lives. I am always given great inspirational books from people who have taught me, but after being born again, I became very careful as to what is being taught in some of these books.
I picked up Laurie's "Jesus CEO" by accident when in a bookstore. I was looking for another book on management that came highly recommended but I had some bad feelings about it. The information I did know about that book sounded good but when I checked on some of the teachings in it, it was not always in line with what the Bible teaches. But I was willing to get my own copy to read and study it to form my own opinion.
The store manager said he had a copy of this book but he could not find it. While he continued to look for the book, I caught the title "Jesus CEO" out of the side of my eye.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspires change and insightfullnes 29 Jun 1997
By A Customer
As a CEO myself, I will attest to the excellent inspiration that it relays to the executive. The chapters are short and to-the-point. I recommend keeping it in your desk and reading a chapter
a day or so to develop more insight into the leadership technique that worked for God.

As I learned from reading the text, I realized the wisdom of Christ is not really ancient at all...but are simple lessons in interacting with and leading people that are timeless in nature.

This book could change the nature of our corporations and World if it were required reading for business leaders....

The only thing that the author didn't emphasize more is the importance of communicating with our boss, Jesus, through prayer, and constantly asking for his guidance in our actions. He will makes us stronger and abler leaders.

The chapters are short, to the point, and interesting......with 2-4 thought-provoking questions at the end of each. It is a wonderful book full of humor and thought-provoking messages. I have read chapters to several people, emailed them about the book, and am only on page 50! It is a great book that touches your life!

5.0 out of 5 stars Refreshing and inspired 7 Sep 1998
By A Customer
Laurie Beth Jones has done a spectacular job of making the life of Jesus applicable to modern business. This book could have easily been a recitation of fundamentalist dogma, but in Jones's capable hands the wisdom of Jesus leaps off the page with new life and inspiration. The business advice is as solid as it is inspirational. I recommend it highly.

As a business consultant I can say that there is nothing wrong in this book. As a Christian, however, I must say that everything in this book is wrong. Jones is many things, but a child of the Kingdom she is not.
Here's the proof: She has no idea what the mission of Jesus was and claims that He "let go" of His mission -- that He failed! On page 12 of the book she states the mission of Jesus was to "teach people about a better way of life." No, Laurie Beth, that's Zig Ziglar's mission! Jesus' mission was to come and die as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. He did not come to teach the law, but to fulfil it. On page 157 of the book she clains that Jesus looked at his mission on the cross and then "let it go" implying that he failed or left it incomplete. How terribly wrong and misguided she is! His words "It is finished" mark the fulfillment of his mission -- perhaps the only human in history to be able to truly say so. H! e let it go because it was complete, not unfinished.
Jones' book says nothing new about management. She has just managed to hook herself onto the coat strings of the most famous name in the history of the earth. Her beliefs about Jesus are clearly non-Christian and should not be read in any way as application of the faith. Her theology is erred, the foundation of the book flawed. Her conclusions and teachings, therefore, are not those of Jesus but of Laurie Beth Jones. Spend your time profitably -- pray for her and read someone else's book.

5.0 out of 5 stars The real heart of leadership 13 April 1999
By A Customer
This book is an outstanding quick read book that can serve to reground any leaders view of the world. Leadership is all about caring, nourishing and fostering and in simple examples we've all heard before it re-enforces leading with good intentions. I've shared this book numerous times to set a tone of leadership that I would want to work for in the future. Why it is not on Harvard's executive reading list is beyond me.
