I bought this as a present for my octogenarian parents (don't tell them - they haven't got it yet) so I want it to be ready to turn on and watch when I hand it over.
I'm very pleased with the picture quality, although I've not seen it at its best yet - the protective film is still on as it will be packaged up again in due course. And I'm impressed with the viewing angle - must be approaching 160°. And at the shallow angles it is only reflection that is the problem. The movie file playback is pretty good too.
I like the timed turn on/off feature - that will be very useful for my parents - no need to touch anything.
The remote has rotate and zoom buttons but they only function in Single display mode and they aren't remembered for next time. So make sure the orientation is correct before uploading the photos.
The biggest weakness I've found is controlling the display sequence. It doesn't have a random display option (although it does have random for music playback). For the Photos slideshow it navigates the folder hierarchy, displaying the files in that folder first and then descending into any subordinate folders. But the order it displays them is in the order you added the files (or folders) to the device - not the modified date or the taken date and not alphabetical either. Once they are there you can't change the order. So just dumping them into one folder means the newest will be the last shown. And when it is turned on it always starts from the beginning - I would have liked "restart from where you were" or "reverse chronological" options.
To combat this I've taken some time to plan a directory structure that will allow things to be added with some degree of control in the future (my Brothers will be adding to it in due course too). It seems to be working out OK.
Overall it is excellent value for money. The issues I have are pretty minor and largely due to way I intend using it. I'm tempted to buy one for myself.
