I discovered the first of the series,Stone Cold, when it was recently transmitted on Channel 5,and was so impressed that I ordered the 4 films on DVD. This latest release maintains the production standards of the earlier films. What I find impressive, apart from the scripts, and the regular cast,is the use of excellent actors in the subsidiary roles. Additionally, there is an atmosphere created by the direction, and the photography, that draws one into the films. Special mention must be made of Tom Selleck's performance throughout the series. It really does soar above the cliche of a detective with an alcohol problem. And--a special mention for the two dogs!
I first saw Tom Sellick in "Magnum". He was really good in that, but as a cowboy,in films like "Quigley Down Under, and "Crossfire Trail" he is just the best; he brings the roles to perfection, and one can think that the western cowboy was exactly as he portrays them to be. His role of the small town Sheriff, Jesse Stone, is really fantastic, and his talents as an actor are hard to surpass. The man is great!
i bought this not knowing anything about jesse stone but because i like tom selleck movies i am glad i did ive got a few of these jesse stone films all i can say is that they are all very good cant get enough its a shame they arent available on uk format soooner they should make a tv series ive read they making more no remorse i think its called cant wait i recomend these movies to everyone
Another solid outing from Tom Selleck as flawed cop Jesse Stone. The character of Jesse Stone is easily the best role Selleck has ever played, with gritty storylines played out against the tranquil background of small-town America. The latest, Sea Change, sees Stone investigating an old murder and, as usual, making enemies along the way. No spectacular car chases or uneccessary gun play just solid mysteries which are both entertaining and leave you guessing until the end.
Selleck has put down a character on screen that is complicated but tremendously likeable. This is really a series of films that leaves you hungry for more and makes you wonder how Selleck ever ended up playing Magnum. Well, an actor has to eat but buy this whole series and learn to love a small town lawman who has known more of life than most of us care to do. Money well-spent
Good films as I have been told by the person who I bought them for. There are 8 Jessie Stone stories in total but the last few only seem available on region 1 format but have played on our multi-region dvd player. SHame they havent made them in region 2 (UK)
