About the Author
A Senior Fellow at the W.F. Albright Institute of Archaeological Research in Jerusalem, working in Israel and Palestine, Dr Shimon Gibson was awarded his Ph.D. on landscape archaeology and the study of ancient field systems. Between 1989 and 1995, he was a staff member of the Palestine Exploration Fund in London where he dealt with the cataloguing of nineteenth-century archival materials and photographs. He has conducted many excavations and field surveys in southern Levant.
