Growing up on the Jenning's series by Anthony Buckeridge, one's imagination was left to create the voices of the characters. Stephen Fry brings those characters to life in an amazing way and one that is entirely consistent with the tone of the book. From the fractured arguments of Binn's and Blotwell to the explosions of Mr. Watson, it's all here for your listening pleasure. The only shame is that Stephen Fry has not recorded more in the series.

I am surprised that even Stephen Fry's narration hasn't made this more popular. For today's readers it is perhaps too dated, describing a boarding school lifestyle that barely exists any more. But that doesn't stop the stories from being charming, witty and full of humanity. They are very nearly as good as Richmal Crompton's William stories (and Stephen Fry reads them very nearly as well as Martin Jarvis reads William).

One cassette was completely snapped and the other one didn't play properly either so all in all waste of money.
